Everybody Hates Fred!

When everyone in the world, left and right, young and old, gay and straight, agrees that you're a dick, you must really be a dick. There aren't a lot of people in the world who fit that bill. But there is one family, one "church," that has managed to pull it off.

Say hello to Fred Phelps and his deranged family, from the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas. They're the fun group who go around and protest at the funerals of soldiers killed in Iraq and the funerals of AIDS victims. Their message is that "God Hates Fags," and they are really glad that all these people have died, because it shows "God's wrath," which of course is caused by all the gay people running around and mocking him (God, that is, not Fred).

When they announced that they intended to protest at the funerals of the Amish schoolgirls who were murdered in cold blood several months ago, it set off a firestorm of criticism.

Take a look at this video from "Hannity and Colmes." This may be the only occasion where I actually agreed with everything that Sean Hannity said, and there's a very good chance it will be the last.
